close as the air

oh God
the dawn is still wet
hasn’t quite lost sight of the night yet
or found the light
yet the orange sun
pries open the bloodshot eyes
of the skies on the horizon
as i rise
to tell a new story with my life
God may my heart meet with Your mind
find all the wonders
You’ve aligned
and designed
You
propose
purpose
prepare
to meet me here
and lead me there
close as the air
as i breathe and believe my way
into the Heaven
of this
today
-----------------------------------------
Some mornings feel like beginnings.
Others feel like battles just carried over.
And some,
like this one,
are somewhere in between.
Waiting...
not quite yesterday
not yet fully today.
This prayer-poem reflects that liminal moment—before the sun has fully claimed the sky, before our feet quite remember how to walk with hope.
We long to begin again. And more than that, to begin with God.
To not only rise
but to align—
our hearts with His mind
our pace with His presence
our trust with His tender leading.
Father God,
It’s morning, and I’m not sure how I feel yet.
But I want to step into today with You.
I don't want to get ahead of You, or stuck in my own head.
I need what's true about You to help me move through this day.
There’s a lot of noise—inside and out.
Please quiet what doesn’t matter so I can notice what You’re saying.
You’re not done with today yet. So I won’t give up on it either.
In Jesus name,
Amen.
With much love,
gregrinne

Greg and Corinne, as I traverse the wonder and joy of Advent remembering and anticipation of Jesus' return, you have come to mind. I pray that by God's tender Mercies you receive strength and comfort and His joy to remain faithfully in Him.
So beautiful. I always feel cozy in Jesus reading your poems and advice. God Bless you .
Beautiful and honest. Once again your gift of putting into words, thoughts that I can't express, or revealing feelings I didn't know I was having! Thank you and praying for you both.
As I sit here in the dark… waiting for the night to slip into day, I focus on this beautiful post- wanting the peace of Jesus to envelop me today. Thank you so much for sharing with the world… your gift to us- drawing us closer to our Jesus.
