"a thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices for yonder breaks a new and glorious morn"
"a thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices for yonder breaks a new and glorious morn"

the dawn and the dusk

call me to worship

to gasp inside

and whisper praise

for something beyond me

Someone

who makes moments for me

in the heavens

how many worlds O Father?

how many nebulae

black holes

holy waterfalls

how many worlds

have You created

for Your glory?

how many wondrous creatures

whose eyes beam with joy

at the sight of Your work?

how many far wiser than I

roam the byways of this universe?

how many gather

every moment for praise?

silence calls me to You

i wish to enter that awe

that i first knew when i saw trees

stand silent along the road

and knew they were sentinels

giving wordless praise

to the One they recognize

as their Maker

Maker of all things

and all beings

if the air’s chill

and the

clock's ticking

would let me go

i would walk in the clear morning air

rather than staring through double-pane glass

at Your wonders

but

with the one candle burning

and the silence save the spin of the hard drive

and the whirr of the refrigerator

windows into Your worlds are everywhere

even if we don’t always know how to find them

to see them

may i enter into Your awe-striking Presence

in the simple ways i can

thank You for enlivening my imagination

this morning

and making me

even for a brief moment

a child in the sanctuary of this little pocket

in the temple of Your universe

Suddenly, alarmingly,

an Angel of the Lord

appearing in radiant splendor

lighting up the field

the blazing glory of God...

fear not

today, in the town of David,

the Saviour was born for you.

He is the Lord Yahweh,

The Messiah.

Luke 2:9-11

With love, hope and tenderness...
